Miltenyi Biotec's MACSima protein Hyperplex profiling technology arrives at Institut Cochin, on the HISTIM platform managed by Maryline Favier. Institut Cochin is the first research site to acquire this equipment in the Île-de-France region for open use, the second in France, thanks to funding from the Île-de-France region, Inserm, Université Paris Cité and the CNRS. MACSima is a 3D imaging platform combining hyperplex stainings and an automated image acquisition and analysis system, it will provide Institut Cochin with the means to explore the full potential of spatial biology.

Institut Cochin inaugurated the MACSima platform from Miltenyi Biotec on May 23, 2024, in the presence of Olivier Mousson (Regional Councilor, Île-de-France Region), Florence Niedergang (Director of Institut Cochin), Jean-Daniel Lelièvre (Scientific Coordinator, DIM-1 Health), Frédéric Vales (Deputy Regional Delegate, CNRS Île-de-France Villejuif Delegation), Sabrina Sahnoun (Deputy Regional Delegate, Inserm, Île-de-France Center North), Michel Vidal (Vice-Dean Research, Faculty of Health, Université Paris Cité) and several representatives of Miltenyi Biotec.

After the inauguration, Maryline Favier and Eve Blanquart (Miltenyi Biotec), presented the technology and possibilities of the platform in spatial biology. This tool can perform up to 200 protein stainings on a single tissue slide in order to finely characterize cell populations in tumor or infectious microenvironments, determine cell phenotyping, identify cell interactions and molecular dialogues and signaling pathways, in any field.
