On January 22, 2026, a team from Institut Cochin, led by Florence Niedergang, participated in the DECLICS science outreach program and shared their passion for research with 56 first-year high school students specializing in Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris. The session included a short presentation on scientific career paths, the development of a research project, the scientific method, and critical thinking, followed by a speed-meeting where scientists interacted with several small groups of students, and a meeting with the teachers.

Florence Niedergang was accompanied by several members of her research team (researchers, engineers, doctoral students) – Chiara Pompili, Zeyni Mansuroglu, Suzanne Faure-Dupuy, Quentin Provot, Zoé Frémont – as well as researchers from other teams at the Institut Cochin, Paul Lubrano, Cecilia Ramirez, and Claire Desnos, and from other research institutes.
Other members of the Institut Cochin also participated in DECLICS activities in other high schools.

The DECLICS program (for "Dialogues Between Researchers and High School Students to Engage Them in the Construction of Knowledge") was created by the Cercle FSER association (Schlumberger Foundation for Education and Research) to promote fundamental research, the scientific method, and knowledge of research careers among young people.
