Institut Cochin welcomed the "Aide aux Jeunes Diabétiques" (AJD) association in its laboratories with a visit from 50 donors, patients and their families accompanied by the director Carine Choleau. After presentations of Institut Cochin by Sophie Vaulont and of research projects on type 1 diabetes by Jacques Beltrand and Sylvaine You, the teams led by Sylvaine You-Roberto Mallone, Raphaël Scharfmann and Agnès Lehuen-Jacques Beltrand proposed various workshops on genetics, immunology and microscopy.

The visitors each attended two workshops, in small groups. Then they were able to discuss with all the researchers during a snack. This visit allowed patients and their families to better understand the issues of biomedical research concerning type 1 diabetes, to exchange directly with clinicians and researchers and to share their experiences, their questions.
