The mission of my laboratory is to discover principles that underlie control of transcriptional programs during development and disease. We recently proposed a model that transcriptional regulatory proteins can form phase-separated ‘transcriptional condensates’ that may play important roles in the control of cell identity of mammalian cells. The central theme of my lab is to use the transcriptional condensate model to solve major outstanding problems in transcription- developmental- and disease biology. In the talk, I will discuss new insights into the molecular basis of condensate formation,  the regulatory functions of transcriptional condensates, and  their roles in genetic disease.
