Nutritional control of intestinal stem cells and their transformation

Project

Beyond the involvement of signaling pathways known to control intestinal stem cell (ISC) renewal such as the Wnt and Notch pathways, nutritional factors also contribute to cancer initiation by altering ISC biology. Our research goal is to investigate the impact of different dietary conditions on ISC function, epigenetic alterations and metabolism and to determine their contribution to tumorigenesis. With the increased interest of nutritional manipulations, we expect that our project will have important clinical perspectives regarding the development of targeted strategies in CRC prevention or therapy.
