Researchers and clinicians of Institut Cochin are mobilized to face the epidemic caused by the Coronavirus SARS-CoV2

    •

The Institut Cochin mobilizes its skills, its premises, its equipment to face the epidemic due to the Coronavirus SARS-CoV2 and the disease it causes, called COVID-19 by the World Health Organization. Thus, responding to the urgent needs of the Services of Cochin Hospital and more broadly APHP.Centre-UP, we collected hundreds of personal protective equipment (masks, gowns, overshoes), prepared dozens of liters of hydro-alcoholic solution, mobilized syringe pumps, and more recently participated in the construction by 3D printer of dozens of transparent protective screens for caregivers.

We have requisitioned one of our L2 containment laboratories to allow the Hospital’s Biological Resource Center (CRB) to process hundreds of COVID + samples from patients under suitable security conditions to monitor ongoing clinical trials.

Researchers, engineers, technicians have volunteered by the dozen to participate in these local solidarity actions and also respond to calls launched by other hospital sites in Paris (for example Bichat Hospital).

Finally, several teams from Institut Cochin have very recently launched research projects on COVID-19: these projects, carried out in close collaboration with the Hospital Services of Cochin Hospital / APHP.Centre, aim to develop new diagnostic, prognostic or therapeutic tools, to analyse and monitor immune responses and to identify prognostic markers or markers of response to treatments.
